Archer Recruitment is partnering with a leading international construction and property consultancy to recruit an experienced Senior Commercial Manager for a major role supporting one of the UK’s largest and most prestigious rail infrastructure programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing commercial team, playing a key role in commercial assurance, cost verification and subcontractor audit across a complex, multi-billion-pound infrastructure project.
The Role
Working within an established Project Controls and Commercial team, you will be responsible for reviewing and verifying subcontractor costs across the supply chain, ensuring commercial compliance, governance and value for money throughout project delivery.

The Role
Working within an established Project Controls and Commercial team, you will be responsible for reviewing and verifying subcontractor costs across the supply chain, ensuring commercial compliance, governance and value for money throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, verify and audit subcontractor costs and applications.
- Deliver commercial assurance and cost verification activities.
- Ensure compliance with NEC contracts and commercial governance procedures.
- Identify commercial risks, discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
- Produce detailed commercial reports and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Liaise with project teams, contractors and client representatives.
- Support the successful commercial delivery of a nationally significant rail infrastructure programme.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Manager, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Strong experience within rail or major infrastructure projects.
- Excellent working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
- Previous experience in commercial assurance, cost verification, commercial audit or subcontractor cost reviews.
- Excellent commercial acumen, analytical skills and stakeholder management experience.

- Hybrid working – 3 days per week in Milton Keynes
