A forward-thinking, design-led practice is looking to appoint a Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) to play a pivotal role in shaping how technically complex projects are delivered.
 
This is not a traditional compliance position. It’s a hands-on, client-facing role sitting at the intersection of design, coordination, and delivery, offering the opportunity to both lead on live projects and build a new in-house BRPD capability within a highly regarded London studio.
 
The Opportunity
You will take a central role in ensuring projects are not only creatively ambitious, but also compliant, coordinated, and commercially deliverable. Alongside acting as BRPD across key schemes, you will help define and embed best practice for compliance and technical delivery across the business.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Act as BRPD across a range of commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects
• Plan, manage, and coordinate design work to meet Building Regulations requirements
• Lead technical coordination across multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliant, buildable solutions
• Establish and implement systems, processes, and tools for BRPD delivery
• Contribute to and lead fee proposals, clearly defining scope, deliverables, and risk
• Identify design risks, gaps, and coordination issues early in the project lifecycle
• Engage directly with clients, consultants, and contractors on compliance and delivery matters
• Support complex project stages and contribute to overall technical strategy

About You

• Experienced architect or technical leader with strong Stage 4-5 delivery expertise
• Demonstrable technical strength across detailing, coordination, and construction delivery
• Working towards or capable of acting as a BRPD under current regulations
• Strong working knowledge of Revit in a coordinated design environment
• Excellent ability to interrogate and guide design information to ensure compliance and buildability
• Confident communicator, capable of producing clear and robust technical documentation
• Commercially aware, with an understanding of London fit-out delivery and procurement routes
• Comfortable operating both in detail and at a strategic project level
