BRPD - Building Regulations Principal Designer - London

Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD)
London (Hybrid)
Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits

A design-led, multidisciplinary practice is looking to appoint a Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) to establish and lead its in-house BRPD capability.

This is not a traditional compliance role. This is a hands-on, fee-earning position sitting at the intersection of design, technical coordination, and project delivery, offering the opportunity to directly influence how compliance is embedded within a creative, fast-paced design environment.

You will play a central role in ensuring projects are not only ambitious in design, but also compliant, coordinated, and commercially deliverable.

The Role
You will operate both strategically and hands-on, leading BRPD responsibilities across live projects while shaping how the service is delivered across the wider business.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as BRPD across a range of projects
  • Planning, managing, and coordinating design work to meet Building Regulations
  • Embedding compliance throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Leading technical coordination in line with BRPD duties
  • Identifying risks, gaps, and coordination issues early
  • Ensuring design information is robust, compliant, and buildable
Alongside project work, you will:
  • Help establish systems, processes, and tools for BRPD delivery
  • Contribute to and lead fee proposals and service definition
  • Develop clear, consistent approaches to compliance documentation
  • Engage directly with clients on technical and regulatory matters
  • Support bids, presentations, and business growth
About You
You are a technically strong, delivery-focused professional who understands how design translates into built reality.

You will likely bring:
  • Experience operating at Stage 4–5 delivery within architecture or technical design
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and compliance processes
  • The capability to act as (or work towards becoming) a BRPD
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
  • Advanced Revit experience within a collaborative design environment
  • Strong ability to interrogate and guide technical information
  • Excellent written communication and reporting skills
  • Confidence in client-facing, project delivery roles
A solid understanding of London commercial fit-out projects (CAT A & B) and associated procurement routes is highly desirable.
