Commercial Manager (Junior & Senior) – Civils / Enabling Works
Location: Suffolk (3 days per week, onsite)
Salary Range: £45,000 – £70,000 + package | Permanent

A leading construction consultancy is seeking Commercial Managers (Junior and Senior levels) to support the delivery of a major long-term civils and enabling works programme in Suffolk. These are key appointments within a high-performing project team working across multiple workstreams on a complex, multi-year infrastructure programme.

The Opportunity

You will play a critical role in the commercial and contractual management of works packages, supporting the wider delivery team in ensuring robust cost control, contract compliance, and programme certainty across all phases of delivery.

The project has an initial duration of 12 months, with extensions anticipated up to 4 years, offering long-term stability and progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • NEC3 contract administration across live project workstreams
  • Managing payment applications, valuations, and change control processes
  • Administration and assessment of compensation events (Senior level focus)
  • Supporting cost reporting, forecasting, and commercial governance
  • Liaising with contractors, client teams, and delivery stakeholders
  • Ensuring accurate and timely commercial reporting across packages
Candidate Requirements

Junior Commercial Manager (5+ years’ experience)
  • Degree or apprenticeship-qualified (ideally completed structured degree apprenticeship)
  • 2+ years post-graduate commercial experience
  • Working knowledge of NEC3 contracts
  • Exposure to payment, change management, and contract administration
Senior Commercial Manager (10+ years’ experience)
  • Strong track record in NEC3 contract administration in live project environments
  • Proven experience managing compensation events and payment applications
  • Ability to lead commercial workstreams independently
  • Strong stakeholder and contractor management capability
General Requirements (All Levels)
  • NEC3 experience is essential
  • Strong delivery-focused mindset (sector experience is flexible)
  • No requirement for nuclear or power background – civils/enabling works focus
  • Eligible for BPSS clearance
  • Able to work 3 days per week in Suffolk (local or willing to stay overnight)
  • Strong communication and contract administration skills
