Senior Cost Manager - Project Lead

Archer Recruitment has partnered with an independent construction consultancy delivering Cost Management, Project Management and Employers Agent services to clients in the Residential, Mixed-Use & Commercial sectors.

Due to continued growth, the company is now seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their London team. This person will be responsible for leading key projects in Student Accommodation, Build to Rent, Retirement Living and Co-Living sectors.

In the role, you will lead projects on cost management and employer’s agent services through all stages from inception to completion, act as a key client contact and support to manage and develop junior staff within the team. 

The company has a modern office in the heart of the City of London, a close knit team with a wealth of industry experience, and offer flexibility for hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare cost plans, budgets, and tender documents.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
• Prepare valuations, progress reports, and final accounts.
• Negotiate contracts and procurement strategies.
• Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar.
• MRICS qualification.
• Strong knowledge of standard contract forms such as JCT and NEC.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
